Session Details

FRESH 48

Location:
The hospital or your home (within 30 miles of 78660), baby must be 0 - 48 hours old.
Babies seldom arrive on their actual due date and yes - you may absolutely change your session date accordingly. Please reserve a tentative date with me for these sessions, though.
A good time to make a reservation is usually 6-8 weeks in advance.
For example, your due date might be May 14th - you reserve May 15th or 16th. If your baby arrives on May 9th instead of the 14th (like mine :-), I will try my best to make it to the hospital or your home during your baby's first 2 days of life. If this, for some reason, is not possible for me, you can either opt for a regular Newborn session, or you may cancel and receive your full deposit back.

Duration:
1 - 1.5 hrs
This is more of a lifestlye approach to newborn photography and meant, to capture babies very first hours / days with the family. There won't be any posed shots, more an interaction between the new family member and the parents, siblings and, possibly,  other friends/ relatives of your choice.

NEWBORNS

When:
I prefer to schedule newborn sessions during the first 14 days of life. Babies are simply a lot more tired and a less opinionated about things, then :-)

Duration:
2-3 hrs (often more)
A good time to make a reservation is usually 6-8 weeks before your theoretical due date - of course you may change your appointment date according to your baby's actual Birthday.
Newborns need very frequent cleanings, feedings and cuddle time. Being in a rush gets us nowhere with a newborn (with all kids, really), so I like to block off that amount of time. I have been done with newborn sessions in as little as an hour, because the baby just slept straight through everything and never even woke up. I have also taken 4 hrs, because the baby was upset, ate 5 times, soiled 6 diapers, my right hand, his Mom's left arm and his Dad's pants. :-) In the end it all worked out - but you just never know how it's gonna go.

BABIES/ CHILDREN

When : Babies aged 1 month - high school kids!

There's really no limit to when you can book a photo session with your child - they're constantly changing in front of our eyes. And yet, we only notice those big changes, when we look at photos that have maybe been taken just a few months ago.
Yes, of course our children might get a portrait taken at school every year. But do they look themselves in it? I have had many parents tell me, that they don't really recognize their children in the school photos. They might look tense or unsure about the situation. And how could that be any different? The school photographer is with your child for 1 minute at the most, they don't know that person and are supposed to let loose and look natural and happy on command - well, that doesn't work so well with my own child, I can tell you that much :-)
During 1.5 hrs in my studio or at an outdoor location I will not pose your child relentlessly the entire time. It's about more than that : gaining a little of the child's trust, catching a smile or 2 and have the child naturally interact with their surroundings and family. That, to me, is the recipe for a beautiful, natural, heartwarming photo.

Duration:
1 - 1.5 hrs
